As part of this work two briefing events are being held in:  Preston on the 18th Nov - The Salvation Army, Harrington Street, Preston, PR1 Blackburn on the 20thNov - Kings Court, 33 King Street, Blackburn, BB2 2DH The events will run from 10am -1pm with lunch and networking opportunities at the close. The events will cover: The background to EU funding in Lancashire The role of the LEP and the scope of ESF The opportunities provided to VCSE organisations in Lancashire. The opportunities provided through the Big Lottery Fund ESF Opt In Programme An opportunity for organisations to found out how they might get involved. Together Grants - new applications very welcome

Our Together Grant programme has enjoyed a great first year, having supported nearly seventy projects across England at over £300,000! This has included support for the unemployed, young people, the homeless and many more.

Grants are available for churches and Christian organisations, working in partnership and in local communities, to tackle poverty. Full details of our grants programme can be found on our website, and we still have money to give away this year so applications are very welcome.

Job summary

 

This is a temporary appointment whose main purpose is to offer support and assistance to the current Head of Operations. This post is immediately available and will be offered until the end of April 2015. The charity is currently managed by two Heads of Services (one for Business and one for Operations) with the Chair of the Trustees acting as a non-remunerated part time executive Chair.

 

The current Head of Operations is anticipating leaving her post before April 2015 following her decision to emigrate, and the Board of Trustees are presently considering the senior management arrangements, which will be put in place from mid 2015. This post is to provide the necessary support and continuity through a period of change.

 

General responsibilities are:

To assist the Head of Operations in the development of an overall business strategy; to ensure that in all project work, endeavors & dealing with external agencies the interests of the Charity are promoted at all times; to observe and comply with all lawful and reasonable requests and instructions of Head of Operations.  

 

Main duties include:

Assist in legal compliance; support the management of the day to day operational activity and staffing issues; help facilitate governance functions by providing information to the Board  and its sub-committees; project support and management; offer assistance in quality, finance and budgetary planning; liaise with clients, staff and stakeholders to further improve services, the charity's standing within the region and generate community involvement; provide effective leadership; encourage participation in training and development; attend internal and external meetings; lead by positive example.
