Money Saving Expert guru Martin Lewis has set up a new think-tank, The Money and Mental Health Policy Institute, to investigate the connection between money problems and mental health.
The website is moneyandmentalhealth.org where there's a lovely video of Martin explaining the background to the think-tank and his hopes for what it will achieve.
Their long-term aim is that new research into the link between mental-health and financial distress will result in some tangible, practical policy solutions. For example, a voluntary register that would mean that unusual spending patterns are flagged and that an agreed trusted friend is contacted.
They are currently running a survey to gather stories and information from people who've experienced mental illness or mental distress about their finances.
They were also featured in Saturday's Guardian: http://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/mar/05/mental-health-debt-crisis-martin-lewis-polly-mackenzie
