The Bishop of Blackburn is asking for comments and responses to his vision statement for the future of the church in Lancashire. Together Lancashire is keen to encourage as many people as possible to respond to this consultation. You don't have to be a church leader or an Anglican to comment. We would like to help develop the vision for a healthy church in terms of :
- meeting the needs of the community and tackling poverty
- working collaboratively with neighbouring churches across the denominations
- supporting mission and ministry in the tougher places, (UPA parishes and social housing estates)
You can read the vision document by clicking here.
Please email your responses to vision@blackburn.anglican.org
Ideally responses should be submitted by the end of January in time for Diocesan Synod which meets on 7th February.
Together Lancashire has been having some important conversations about these issues and people working in UPA parishes have shared papers they have wriiten as a response to the vision for a healthy church. We have been thinking about how we can best start some conversations and deeper reflections about the theology, underlying values, stories and practice of Christian social action in Lancashire.
We wonder if there are people in our network who would be willing to write and share publicly short reflective pieces about the life and work of your church or project, the issues that emerge and the signs of God at work in your community. If we can collect such writings... ideally short pieces amounting to a side of A4 and definitely less than 1000 words, we would be happy to publish them online in the form of a Together Lancashire blog, of stories and reflections about tackling poverty together.
If you would like to take part in this writing and reflection project please get in touch with me or send your article to
